Handbuilding 4-week course - $245

Hand-building course - Building your practice

On Sundays from 10:30 am to 1 pm with Tara

In this six-week all-levels hand-building course, students are offered an open and supportive context to discover the foundations of working manually, functionally and skillfully with clay. Adaptive to the learning objectives of each session group, students acquire a working palette of core techniques – coiling, pinching and a variety of approaches for slab construction. Inclusive of functional and sculpture perspectives, this longer-format course opens the possibility of developing a small body of work and experimenting with a variety of finishing techniques on both wet and fired clay. The final week, students will learn to glaze and decorate their pieces using our beautiful assortment of studio glazes.

If you already know you'd like more time, go to the Open Studio page to purchase additional practice sessions one by one or by pack of three.

  • You will receive an email approximately one month after your session, once your ceramic pieces are ready for pickup. Be sure to check your spam or junk folder!

You will then have 2 weeks to come pick up your pieces during our designated pickup hours. Please bring the email with you. If you are unavailable, you may ask someone else to pick up your pieces — they must show your email as proof.

After the 2-week period, any unclaimed pieces will be donated.

Please note that your piece may crack or break during firing — pottery takes practice! This is why this workshop is focused on the experience, not the final result.
