Wheel Throwing: Improving your technique
This 4-week course is designed for students who have completed at least one 6-week Beginner Wheel Throwing course or an Intermediate course. In a small-group setting, you'll receive personalized guidance to help you progress at your own pace. Each session focuses on specific skills such as centering, throwing, trimming, and glazing.
Prerequisites: Participants must have completed a 6-week Beginner Wheel Throwing course and be comfortable glazing their own work. If not, a glazing class is required at the student's expense.
This course includes:
5 kg of clay of your choice
Access to our selection of glazes and underglazes
Firing of your finished pieces
Use of all necessary studio tools
-
A personalized approached with each person in a small group of 4 participants.
-
Practice is essential for making progress. For an additional fee, you can come to the studio to apply what you’ve learned in class and continue working on your projects during independent practice.
If you already know you’d like more time, visit the Independent Practice page to purchase additional sessions with our 4-practice pass over 4 weeks.
-
Please arrive on time for each class!
A few recommendations before your pottery session:
Keep your nails short
Do not wear rings, bracelets, or watches
Wear appropriate clothing and shoes for a studio environment
-
You will receive an email approximately one month after your session, once your ceramic pieces are ready for pickup. Be sure to check your spam or junk folder!
You will then have 2 weeks to come pick up your pieces during our designated pickup hours. Please bring the email with you. If you are unavailable, you may ask someone else to pick up your pieces — they must show your email as proof.
After the 2-week period, any unclaimed pieces will be donated.
Please note that your piece may crack or break during firing — pottery takes practice! This is why this workshop is focused on the experience, not the final result.
