Job: Studio Tech - Intermediate Level Teacher

Cone 10 is seeking a replacement for one of our primary staff members, Jeff, who manages the technical operations and intermediate classes at the studio. Jeff will be leaving Montreal this summer, and we are looking for a qualified and experienced potter to take his place.

Job Description
Our School is seeking a part-time Intermediate-level teacher and technician.
Responsibilities – Technical Operations:
Firing kilns
Managing the glazing and organization of pieces made in our workshops
Recycling clay
Supervising and attending to studio members
Communicating with other staff through our messaging software
Maintaining an organized work environment for members and other staff
Working alongside other key team members to manage the technical flow operations of the studio from week-to-week
Attending and presenting at monthly staff meetings
Responsibilities – Teaching:
Wheel Classes:
Able to teach students intermediate level wheel techniques, such as plates, lids, larger forms, shaping, handles, and design.Hand Building:
Able to teach students beginner handbuilding techniques, such as the fundamentals of slab, coil, and pinch techniques.Teaching thematic workshops that focus on one specific technique (ie. plates, mugs, etc.)
Collaborating with the team to develop thematic workshops on an ongoing basis
Informing students of studio protocols
Additional Information
This position is a part-time position, schedule variable: 16–22 hours per week.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications:
A developed (intermediate-advanced level) pottery practice in wheel throwing and handbuilding
Teaching experience
Must be able to teach bilingual classes
Knowledge of the technical operations of a community pottery studio
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Additionally, it is preferable that the candidate has:
An interest in designing and teaching specialized programming
Ability to work on weekends
The ability to work flexible hours when needed
Glaze making knowledge
