Studio Guide
Welcome to Atelier Cône10.
Whether you’re joining a class, practicing independently, or using our firing services, this guide explains everything you need to know before, during, and after your visit.

Attendance
Please arrive 15 minutes early for your class.
For single-session classes, arrivals more than 5 minutes late cannot be admitted. This ensures that demonstrations, instructions, and safety information are not missed and that the class can run smoothly.
Late arrivals are not eligible for a refund or rescheduling.
Missed Classes
For 4-week and longer courses, one missed class can be made up with one complimentary Independent Practice session per course.
Cancellations & Rescheduling
We understand that plans can change.
7 days or more before your booking: Full refund or rescheduling is available.
3–5 days before your booking: Rescheduling or a 50% refund is available.
48 hours or less before your booking: No refund or rescheduling is available.
Please choose your booking date carefully.

We take great care when handling and firing your work. However, ceramics are an unpredictable material, and cracks, explosions, and other accidents can occur during the firing process.
By using the studio's kilns and equipment, you acknowledge that you are responsible for any damage you cause to kiln shelves or studio equipment.
If damage occurs, you agree to cover the cost of repair or replacement, with a minimum charge of $35, depending on the extent of the damage.
Atelier Cône10 is not responsible for cracks, explosions, or other accidents that may occur during the firing process.
Damage to your own pottery: Cône10 isn't responsible for firing accidents.
Damage you cause to Cône10's equipment or kiln shelves: you're responsible for the repair/replacement cost, with a minimum of $35.

Everyone is responsible for cleaning their workspace and tools after use.
Please:
Clean your work area thoroughly.
Clean and return tools after use.
Use materials responsibly and avoid unnecessary waste.
Keep aisles and kiln areas clear.
Report broken equipment or other problems to the studio team.
Do not touch another person's work or tools without permission.
Keep your phone on vibrate and take calls outside the working area when possible.
Please begin your final cleanup 30 minutes before the end of your course.
Clay and glaze residue should not be washed directly down the drain. Please follow the studio's cleaning procedures.
Safety
Pottery involves clay dust, glazes, equipment, high temperatures, and fragile ceramics.
Please:
Tie back long hair.
Avoid loose jewellery around equipment.
Wear eye protection when chipping glaze or working with broken ceramics.
Wear a mask when handling dry clay dust or broken/exploded pieces.
Do not sand dry or fired pottery inside the studio.
Keep aisles and kiln rooms clear.
Never enter the kiln room unless authorized.
Only designated Cône10 staff may operate the kilns.

General information on your experience at Cône10

We welcome both French-speaking and English-speaking students. Our teachers are all bilingual and provide support both in group settings and individually, adapting to the language they speak.

All classes and workshops must be booked in advance through our online booking system. Before booking, please carefully check the individual class page, as details may vary depending on the class, including what is included, the amount of clay provided, firing, Independent Practice, and other services.
Please arrive 5 to 10 minutes before your scheduled start time to allow enough time to settle in and prepare.
What to Bring
For most classes, the studio provides the main equipment and materials needed for your session.
Please bring:
Comfortable clothing that can get dirty
Water-resistant clothing when appropriate
Closed-toe shoes
Your own apron
Short nails
A hair tie for long hair
No precious hand jewellery
Aprons are also available for purchase at reception, and you are welcome to bring your own pottery tools.
For your safety, please tie back long hair and avoid loose jewellery, including rings, bracelets, and watches, when working with studio equipment.

We will send you an email when your work is ready for pickup (usually a month after your class with us).
Please collect your work within 2 weeks of receiving your notification.
If someone else is picking up your work for you, they should have your pickup notification available.
After the 2-week storage period, unclaimed work may be donated or recycled.
Please wait for your pickup email before coming to the studio to collect your pieces.

Most classes include a demonstration, hands-on practice, instructor guidance, and time to clean your workspace.
If you're unsure which class is right for you, please contact us before booking.

Membership gives you access to the studio for Independent Practice and personal projects.
To ensure everyone has enough space, members are limited to ¼ of one table at a time.
During busy periods, please ask the shift supervisor or Mario before setting up.
Members must receive a Glazing Demonstration before glazing independently.
Independent Practice is intended for independent work. If you need extensive technical instruction, we recommend booking a class or workshop.
Please remember that Independent Practice takes place in a shared space. Clean your workspace and return all tools after every session.

Glazing is an important part of the ceramic process and requires specific techniques and safety procedures.
Before glazing your own work independently, you must receive a Glazing Demonstration from your instructor or a member of the Cône10 team.
Members must receive a Glazing Demonstration before glazing independently during Independent Practice.
If you're unsure which glaze or underglaze to use, please ask a member of our team before applying it.

Not every ceramic product is suitable for food use.
Our house-made glazes: food-safe.Mayco Fundamentals (underglazes): Matte finish and not food-safe.
Mayco Stroke & Coat (underglazes): Can be suitable for food-contact applications when properly applied and fired to the appropriate temperature. For pieces intended for food use, always apply an appropriate food-safe transparent glaze over the underglaze.
If you're making functional pottery such as plates, bowls, or mugs and are unsure whether your materials are suitable, please ask us before glazing.

Firing is an essential part of the ceramic process. Your work must be completely dry and properly prepared before it can enter the kiln.
We currently offer:
Cone 06 bisque firing
Cone 6 glaze firing
Preparing Your Work
Before your work can be fired:
It must be completely dry.
It must be properly prepared for firing.
It must be clearly identified with your shelf number.
The bottom of glazed pieces must be free of glaze, approximately ¼ inch from the bottom.
Work that is not properly prepared or identified may not be fired.
Please do not enter the kiln room or attempt to load or unload a kiln. Only authorized Cône10 staff may operate the kilns.
Size Limit
Our standard firing capacity accommodates pieces up to:
7" high × 12" wide
Larger pieces may require an additional kiln shelf charge.
If you're making an oversized piece, please speak with the studio team before starting it.
Turnaround
Firing times depend on drying time, kiln schedules, and studio volume.
For class work, pieces are generally ready within approximately 2–4 weeks after the course.
Firing-service orders generally take approximately 3–5 weeks.
These are estimated timelines rather than guaranteed dates.
