Throwing workshop: the marble - 2 weeks

In this two-week course, learn how to create marbled ceramic pieces by combining two different-colored clays. This workshop is designed for those with basic wheel-throwing experience who want to explore this unique technique that reveals organic and contrasting patterns within the body of the clay. You will learn how to prepare the clay, throw and trim your pieces while working with the specific characteristics of mixed clay, and refine your forms to highlight the marbled lines. The course focuses on creating forms such as goblets, bowls, and vases.

Prerequisite: Completion of a 4- or 6-week beginner wheel-throwing course.

  • Clay and all necessary tools to make your pieces are provided.

  • Firing and a transparent glaze for one piece are included.

  • WEEK 1
Demo and realization of the marble pieces.

    WEEK 2
    Trimming.

  • Please arrive 15 minutes before the session begins and wait in our gallery space.

Important: Latecomers arriving more than 5 minutes after the session starts will not be admitted, out of respect for the class structure and other participants. No refunds or rescheduling will be possible.

Your instructor will invite you into the studio at the scheduled start time.

This pottery class is for adults only.

A few recommendations before your pottery session:

    • Keep your nails short

    • Do not wear rings, bracelets, or watches

    • Wear appropriate clothing and shoes for a studio environment

  • You will receive an email approximately one month after your session, once your ceramic pieces are ready for pickup. Be sure to check your spam or junk folder!

You will then have 2 weeks to come pick up your pieces during our designated pickup hours. Please bring the email with you. If you are unavailable, you may ask someone else to pick up your pieces — they must show your email as proof.

After the 2-week period, any unclaimed pieces will be donated.

Please note that your piece may crack or break during firing — pottery takes practice! This is why this workshop is focused on the experience, not the final result.
